Preface
Osaka Prefectural Semboku Senior High School is located in Sakai City, in the south of Osaka, the second largest city in Japan. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, it is a good place for studying. In order to fulfill the community’s demand of fostering students that are full of spirit, independence, and intellectual curiosity, Semboku High School was founded in 1968.

1. The Principles of Education
*To make peaceful and safe circumstance where everyone respects each other and has compassion to the others
*To help promising young people realize their dreams
*To fully function educational guidance and counseling, taking care of and paying attention to every individual, especially esteeming everyone’s personality. *To promote international understanding education, science education, through academic and after-curricular programs.

The Aim of Education :
To bring up an adult who is honest, cheerful, healthy, bright and intelligent.To equip students with sincere, healthy, and intellectual characters.

2. History of the school
1968.6.30 Construction of the first step began
1968.10.1 Semboku High School Opening Preparation Room opened
1969.4.1 The first 329 students were enrolled
1972.3.28 Construction finished
1972.4.1 The total enrollment of 1,323, three grades and 29 classes
1992.4.1 International course opened with 80 students
2005.4.1 Regular course abolished, two special courses established. International course with 160 students and Science course with 120 students

8.Course Discription
8.1 International Course
Policy
“Bringing up of a cosmopolitan outlook and language ability to be active in the world”

We arrange many special topics of languages for this course, especially English. Students can improve the 4 major skills of English language, such as listening, reading, speaking and writing. Also, they also can study a second foreign language, and other subjects for understanding the world.
“Explore”
7 native speakers of English work as a native language assistant teacher. Also, native speakers of French, Spanish, and Korean, also work as a part time lecturer to teach second foreign languages.
“Further”
We have arranged the subjects which utilize CAI system in English teaching. In addition there are many chances of studying abroad. For example, 2013 academic year we promote 2 weeks of language camp in Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

“Horizon”
Students can participate in the recitation contest or the speech contest in English. Moreover, many students from other countries are enrolled in our school, because we give them special entrance admission to accept students who finish their middle school education outside of Japan.


8.2 Science Course
Policy
“Realization of scientific thinking and acquisition of media literacy “

We prepare a number of special subjects of science and mathematics. We adopt a streaming system in science and mathematics.

“Seek”
Almost all scientific experiments in class are carried out with small-sized groups of students. There are many chances to engage in off-campus activities.
“Speculation”
We have fulfilling equipment and facilities for studying science and ICT.

“Horizon”
Students can experience advanced scientific worlds through visiting universities and special lecture done by university professors and researchers in our campus. In addition, we also promote overseas science field work in Australia and Taiwan.

Super science High School Our high school is assigned as “Super Science High School” by the government. We arrange many special subjects.

Graduate 2013, International Course Now Enrolled at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies.
The time of Semboku high school past in an instant. I made a desperate effort to be compatible with studying and club.In the class lesson, there are many individual teacher, so I never feel long the 65minutes class hour. We could study hard for high school event, like the contest of vocabulary of English and Japanese archaic word. That experience was useful in University’s entrance examination. And I think there are many schedule for the activities for enjoy. I had a lot of fun.The best appeal of Semboku high school is the teachers. They are very kind. When we ask some question for them, they answer any time. They give me special teaching materials and they support our studying by several way. I feel proud of the fact I was studying in Semboku high school. If you join this school, you enjoy best high school life!

Graduate 2013, Science Course Now Enrolled at Osaka Prefecture University.
I took part in many school event and joined club. So I did not studying hard every day. But I made a time for the studying for the class and examination. There are a lot of pockets of time in club or holiday-making. I think , effective utilization of pockets of time is important to manage several things. I seize an opportunity to decide on the course to take after graduation in laboratory working in the science special subject. Experimentation in the class is very fun. So I want to continue to experiment. For deciding on the course, anyways, studying hard in the class is most important. And if you have a time, I encourage you take some special class in the school. And teachers are a professional of consultation to decide on the course to take after graduation. I asked many time about my life. University admission is something to be. But it is great experience to get over that wall with our friendship. You learn something new every day in Semboku High School.
